Ultima Creator, NCSoft Exec Returns to Gaming [Richard Garriott]

After a two-year break from gaming, and a short trip into space to visit the International Space Station, Ultima creator and former NCsoft executive Richard Garriott is back, this time as the technical director of a social media company.
Austin-based Portalarium will focus on "developing and publishing online social games, virtual worlds and related services and products," according to its website.

Just a couple of years ago, few would have believed that Google would soon become a major force in the mobile OS market. But that's exactly what has happened since the launch of the Android platform in late 2008, and there's been no sign of the mobile OS slowing down. On the contrary, IDC says Android is on track to become the No. 2 mobile OS by 2013.

Just in time to try and take the sizzle out of Google's Android phone announcement later today comes Apple's announcement that more than three billion apps have been downloaded for the iPhone and iPod Touch in less than 18 months.
Note the word downloaded and not purchased. But it's still an incredibly impressive feat, and you can be assured that a substantial portion of those downloads came in the way of games.
Mozilla: With Firefox Mobile, Who Needs App Stores?

The Mozilla Foundation is making a bold claim that their upcoming mobile version of Firefox (codenamed Fennec) will spell doom for app stores of all stripes. The foundation says that the Javascript engine in Fennec is the fastest ever developed. Mozilla believes the speed of the engine will allow developers to build a new generation of web apps.

Asus Planning Android-Powered Robot

Let's hope Google's Android platform doesn't turn out to be some devious plot at taking over the world, because if it is, there will be no stopping them. In addition to powering a bevy of smartphones, a couple of netbooks, and even an e-book reader or two, Asus will use the open-source OS in an upcoming robot.

Dell's Android-Powered Mini 3i Smartphone Details

Talk of Dell releasing a smartphone has been going on for some time now, and come next week, the OEM will finally release its first handset, albeit not in the U.S.
China Mobile was selected as the carrier of Dell's Mini 3i, which the two companies jointly announced will be available by the end of the month in choice of Red Passion or Oiled Bronze.
Android and Chrome OS Will Likely Coverge Over Time

In the wake of Google’s Chrome OS announcement last week, some have questioned the search giant’s software vision. Cofounder Sergey Brin popped in for a brief appearance at the event and made some interesting statements about the future of Chrome OS and Android. Brin said that Android and Chrome "will likely converge over time," but gave no indication of the form that might take.
