Zalman CNPS10X Flex CPU Cooler Review

When we last looked at Zalman’s new CNPS10X family with the Extreme version, there seemed to be a lot to like but there were some shortcomings as well.  Zalman has now launched the Flex Edition which not only  improves upon the mounting setup we saw on previous generations but also comes with the mounting hardware for two 120mm fans.  All in all, this particular heatsink looks like a dream come true.  But can it win our hearts?

Intel Core i7 / LGA1366 CPU Cooler Roundup

Over the last few months we have been building up an impressive array of CPU coolers for Intel’s i7 / 1366 CPUs and it was high time they were all compared to one another.  In this roundup we will be looking at new products from well-known companies like Tuniq, Kingwin and Zalman along with coolers from recent startups CoGage and ProlimaTech and finally some little-known units from Spire and ZeroTherm.  The heatsinks we have on tap come from every price bracket and should give us a good cross-section of the current state of the CPU cooling industry.

Researchers at Purdue University claim to have developed a new kind of cooling technology. Tannaz Harirchia and Suresh Garimella, are using boiling liquid inside microchannels on specially fabricated chips to more efficiently cool components.

Corsair Hydro H50 CPU Cooler Review

Corsair has achieved the holy grail and made a low cost liquid cooler, the Hydro H50, that actually does what it should: it provides very good cooling for your CPU, it doesn't sound like a hurricane and isn't ridiculously expensive. Does this spell the end of air cooling as we know it?

The latest heatsink from Thermal Transtech (aka nPower) features the largest heatpipe I've ever seen for CPU cooling.

The NPH Hurricane uses a central heatpipe measuring 25.4 mm (about 1 inch) centered over the heatspreader. In addition there are two heatpipes on each edge for additional cooling.
